Fueled by behavioral insights, coffee, & fresh air.
I believe in the transformative power of well-designed products, spaces, and services, from the mundane (think: the hole in the spaghetti spoon) to the big picture (think: whole cities).
I could spend all day listening to people’s stories and all night prototyping possible design solutions. I feel happy and at home sketching with pen and paper as well as working with a variety of software tools.
My superpower is making connections between disparate disciplines. I’ve worked in education, international development, and consumer electronics, and enjoy applying skills I’ve learned in those areas to UX. I spent four years living in Costa Rica conducting (very) unofficial ethnography research while officially teaching English and running an international volunteer program. I conquered the task of keeping the interest of a Spanish-speaking 7-year-old for 40 minutes which does wonders for helping me figure out ways to make research lively and interesting for both participants and observers.
When I’m not working, you can find me listening to the 99% Invisible podcast, reading about emojis (here, here, here, and here), designing birth announcements and other paper goods for friends and family, running along the Charles, wandering around streets I don’t know, cooking a new dish, or optimizing my to-do lists with zaps.
